This role may be offered as a Part-Time Bilingual Education Specialist or a Full-Time Spanish and Early Childhood Educator.

Qualifications:

To be considered for the Bilingual Education Specialist position, candidates must meet state qualifications and the following criteria:

  • Ability to hear conversational speech, with or without a hearing aid.
  • Ability to see and read printed materials, with or without corrective lenses.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and be understood in typical situations.
  • Capability to lift and carry children and other items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to use limbs effectively, with or without assistive devices, including during emergency evacuations.
  • Capacity to manage crisis situations, particularly involving children.
  • Ability to respond promptly to emergencies.

Educational Requirements:

Candidates must fulfill one or more of the following educational criteria, in addition to any state or local licensing requirements:

  • An Associate's degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Child Development, or a related field is preferred.
  • A current Child Development Associate (CDA) or Early Childhood Teaching Credential.
  • Proof of enrollment in an accredited Associate's or Bachelor's degree program in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
  • An Associate's degree or higher in Spanish Language.

  • Engaging in professional communication with families and faculty.
  • Encouraging family involvement in their children's educational journeys.

Ensuring a Responsive Educational Program:

  • Assessing necessary supplies and materials for activity implementation.
  • Encouraging collaboration among staff.
  • Developing lesson plans and maintaining organized documentation.
  • Managing classrooms in accordance with GSI Quality Assurance Standards.

Maintaining Professional Standards:

  • Promoting GSI's educational philosophy and objectives.
  • Supporting ethical conduct within the educational environment.
  • Pursuing ongoing professional development opportunities.
  • Participating in faculty meetings, training days, and professional growth activities.

Foreign Degree Considerations:

  • All foreign degrees must be evaluated and converted to U.S. credits.
  • All foreign coursework and credit hours must align with U.S. standards.
