Job SummaryThe Camp Activities Director is responsible for creating and implementing non-circus camp programming, and coordinating the camper recreational activity schedule. This role is a member of the Camp Leadership Team, working closely with the Camp Director, Head Counselor, and Head Coach.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement age-appropriate, child-centered activities that promote physical and emotional well-being.
- Coordinate the camper recreational activity schedule, ensuring a balanced mix of high-energy and relaxing activities.
- Provide support and guidance to campers, CITs, and staff, promoting a positive and inclusive camp environment.
- Maintain a positive and energetic attitude, motivating campers and staff to participate in activities.
- Assist with issues reported by counselors and other camp staff, ensuring the well-being of all campers.
- Participate in morning run, warm-ups, and strengthening exercises on a daily basis.
- Participate in night duty rotation as assigned, ensuring the safety and security of all campers.
- Display enthusiasm for meal dress-ups, general programs, and circus training sessions, promoting a sense of community and fun.
- Be an inspirational and positive role model for all campers, CITs, and staff, promoting a culture of inclusivity and respect.
- Develop and maintain a balanced activities schedule, incorporating a variety of activities that cater to different interests and abilities.
- Provide support and guidance to staff in the implementation of activities, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience for all campers.
- Maintain and resupply activities inventory, supplies, and equipment within budget, ensuring the camp's resources are utilized efficiently.
- Attend daily counselor meetings, providing updates and feedback to the Camp Leadership Team.
- Assist in mealtime supervision, ensuring the well-being and safety of all campers.
- Participate in Leadership Team Meetings, sharing feedback and contributing to decision-making processes.
- Provide the Camp Director with an activities plan three days prior to each session, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience for all campers.
- Prepare for activities in advance of campers' arrival, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable experience for all.
- Experience working with children and teens in summer camp or instructional settings.
- Ability to listen, communicate, and respond to multiple constituencies, solve problems, and create 'win-win' situations with people of all ages.
- Ability to relate to and motivate both campers and staff, promoting a positive and inclusive camp environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience for all campers.
- Basic computer skills, ability to maintain basic financials of activities equipment and purchases.
- Must like kids, circus, and silliness, promoting a culture of inclusivity and respect.
Work is normally conducted both indoors and outdoors, in the camp office and the concessions store on site. Must be able to lift 40 pounds, ensuring the well-being and safety of all campers.
A Typical DayCounselor meeting at breakfast; warm-up attendance; tasks as needed; lunch walkabout and announcements; preparation for afternoon and evening activities; lead activities in the afternoon into dinner and lights out. Work day is typically from 7:30 until 9:30 with chunks of time for breaks throughout the day as needed.
SupervisionSupervision is received from the Camp Director, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience for all campers.
Salary$650-$750/wk. Room and Board Included.
