We are seeking an experienced and dynamic individual to serve as the Summer Camp Director at YMCA Of Greater Hartford.

Job Description

This is a leadership position responsible for overseeing the summer day camp program, including daily operations, staff supervision, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in recreation management, education, or a related field, and a proven track record of success in supervisory roles.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the implementation of summer day camp programs, including logistics, staffing, and budgeting.
  • Supervise and train a team of staff members, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to provide a safe and engaging experience for campers.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with area schools, community agencies, and businesses to promote the summer day camp program and ensure its continued growth and success.
  • Manage budgets, revenue goals, and expenses to ensure the financial sustainability of the program.
  • Collaborate with the Associate Executive Director to ensure alignment with the organization's mission, values, and strategic objectives.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Recreation Management, Education, or a related field.
  • At least two years of professional experience in a supervisory role, preferably in a recreational or educational setting.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 30 pounds, stand, walk, and sit for long periods.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary for this position is approximately $62,000 per year, based on industry standards and location. Additional benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, and opportunities for professional development and growth.
