The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) plays a crucial role in fostering scientific discussions with healthcare leaders, including Regional and National Thought Leaders, as well as Healthcare Professionals (HCPs). The MSL's mission is to bridge the gap between scientific innovation and patient care, ensuring that the medical community is well-informed about the effective use of our therapies.
Key Responsibilities:
The MSL is responsible for capturing valuable medical insights and serving as a clinical and scientific resource for various internal teams. This role ensures that all interactions align with corporate and medical strategies, ultimately facilitating patient access to our medicines. The MSL will also address scientific inquiries beyond approved products and indications, focusing on both pre-launch and lifecycle management activities.
Medical Engagement:
- Collaborate with Thought Leaders to gather insights that inform the medical strategy.
- Engage in scientific discussions to develop a focused medical plan that supports effective product launches.
- Interact with medical societies and advocacy groups as necessary.
- Provide training for external speakers as required.
- Strategically engage with payers during pre-launch and launch phases.
- Offer real-time medical support to HCPs through face-to-face and virtual interactions.
- Build strong relationships with key Thought Leaders through high-quality scientific dialogue.
- Document and achieve annual performance goals.
- Utilize digital tools to enhance medical engagement.
Clinical Trial Engagement:
- Provide insights to the clinical development team regarding study feasibility based on field knowledge.
- Collaborate with key accounts to identify barriers to patient access in clinical trials.
- Lead discussions on major clinical trial findings with investigators.
- Support research studies by identifying potential study sites and facilitating patient recruitment.
- Ensure compliance with pharmacovigilance protocols during local studies.
Qualifications:
- Advanced degree (MD, PharmD, PhD) with relevant experience in a specific disease area or pharmaceutical background.
- Experience in a scientific or clinical research setting is preferred.
- Strong understanding of the Thought Leader landscape.
- Proven experience in hematology is essential.
- Familiarity with clinical trial design and regulatory requirements.
Travel Requirements:
This position involves significant fieldwork, requiring the ability to travel to meet with external stakeholders and support internal initiatives.
