Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Automation Systems Engineer to join our team at the Novartis Group Companies. As an Automation Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive digital manufacturing strategies that incorporate Industry 4.0, IIoT, artificial intelligence, robotics, and cloud technologies.
Main Responsibilities
- Develop and implement data acquisition, systems integration, and smart manufacturing solutions to enable next-generation cell therapy operations.
- Identify areas where robotic solutions can enhance efficiency by automating manual processes.
- Manage all aspects of the systems lifecycle, including maintenance and validation, to ensure compliance with internal GMPs and external regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with multiple departments to design, test, and maintain the functionality of automation systems.
- Provide technical support to operations and support personnel.
- Continually update technical knowledge and skills to reflect advancements in industry technology and processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field.
- 3+ years of relevant experience in a cGMP-regulated environment, preferably in the pharmaceutical industry.
- Extended interdisciplinary technical knowledge and experience with automation systems, including OSI PI, Continuum, Siemens, DeltaV, PLCs, and IT infrastructure/networks.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
- Self-directed and able to manage competing priorities, with a strong focus on results.
- Ability to work well with others in a team environment, with a strong understanding of industry standards and protocols, including OPC UA, MQTT, Modbus, UNS, ISA95, and 21 CFR Part 11.
