About the Role
The Security Operations Analyst is responsible for overseeing and managing a sophisticated CCTV surveillance system to safeguard the assets of CarMax locations nationwide. This role involves effective communication with local law enforcement and store personnel to ensure the prompt resolution of incidents. The analyst will provide support to store staff in addressing CCTV-related challenges and collaborate with team members on a rotating shift basis. This position requires working overnight shifts as the Security Operations Center operates during these hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor advanced security technology to protect CarMax assets across various locations.
- Respond to a continuous stream of system alerts from multiple technologies, including video analytics. Quickly evaluate whether the activity may indicate criminal behavior and determine appropriate actions, including making announcements or contacting law enforcement.
- Follow up with law enforcement and management to ensure all issues related to incidents are resolved.
- Document all incidents thoroughly in the company's case management system.
- Address burglar alarm system alerts as reported by third-party alarm services, reviewing CCTV footage to distinguish between criminal activity and false alarms.
- Assist store managers with live activity reviews and provide support with CCTV operations, including coordinating third-party security services when necessary.
- Conduct daily audits to ensure the functionality of video and security technology.
- Maintain security equipment and report any issues requiring attention.
- Collaborate with internal business partners and vendors to resolve security equipment-related issues.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.

The analyst will adhere to departmental protocols to ensure that security platforms are operational and well-maintained. Vigilance and sound judgment are essential in responding to system alerts and incidents, often in collaboration with fellow analysts to achieve overall objectives. The Security Operations Analyst serves as a resource for company associates seeking guidance on security and safety matters during incidents.
Qualifications
To succeed in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent is required.
- A college degree is preferred but not mandatory.
- Two years of experience in a Loss Prevention/Security-related field or a computer-related field is preferred.
- Ability to work independently and make informed decisions with minimal supervision.
- Exhibit high ethical standards.
- Availability to work overnight shifts on weekends.
