Job Summary

This position requires frequent evening meetings, occasional weekend work, and attendance at out-of-county meetings. A valid driver's license and a personal vehicle for official duty travel are necessary. Reimbursement for approved official travel expenses will be provided according to FV SU travel policy and guidelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement county-based programs for Cooperative Extension in Agriculture and Natural Resources.
  • Manage ANR county-based programs in multiple counties through FVSU Cooperative Extension coverage area, providing educational programs for small, limited resource, and other underserved farmers and landowners.
  • Plan, conduct, and evaluate an effective Cooperative Extension Program based on expressed needs of the target audience and program requirements.
  • Target specific audiences for educational programs addressing critical issues identified in the plan of work.
  • Develop farm plans, cash flow statements, and provide record analysis of selected enterprises.
  • Make recommendations using economic analysis and sound agricultural practices.
  • Ensure Equal Employment Opportunity plan of FV SU Cooperative Extension is followed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Agriculture or a related field (farm background and/or experience helpful).
  • Demonstrated interest in working with small family farms, socially disadvantaged audiences, other USDA agencies, and community organizations.
  • Experience and knowledge in computer usage required.
  • Ability to compile, complete, and submit timely reports.
  • Proficiency in oral and written communication required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with people, and work as a team member, utilize a wide variety of teaching methods, and respond positively to policy, administration, and other program guidelines.
