Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Clinical Nurse to join our Endocrinology Clinic team at Carle Health. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide exceptional patient care, working closely with our healthcare providers to deliver high-quality services.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care, including vital sign collection, preparation for examination and treatment, and minor surgical procedures.
  • Assist healthcare providers with clinical tasks, such as drawing blood and preparing specimens for laboratory analysis.
  • Apply the Nursing Process to assess, diagnose, plan, intervene, and evaluate patient care.
  • Telephone triage and provide advice for home care of illness or conditions, conducting follow-up phone calls as necessary.
  • Administer vaccines and medications, place urinary catheters and IVs per protocol and license.
  • Schedule referrals for patients with specialists or outpatient services as requested by healthcare providers.
  • Complete appropriate forms or requisitions needed for referrals or lab testing, including CPT/ICD-9 coding.
  • Understand inpatient and outpatient specialty procedures, ensuring compliance with precertification requirements.
  • Track system for follow-up appointments related to office visits, laboratory tests, and procedures to regularly follow patients monitoring disease status.
  • Provide timely documentation in the patient's electronic health record using standardized workflows and processes.
  • Supervise delegated duties to LPN and CMA on approved clinical protocols.
Requirements
  • Current license to practice nursing in the State of Illinois for Registered Nurse.
  • No previous clinical experience required beyond education requirements.
  • Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work as a team member, and ability to understand and apply guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Previous clinical experience in a medical office preferred, but not required.
  • Strong computer skills, strong verbal and written communication skills.
