We are seeking a highly skilled Diagnostic Imaging Specialist to join our team at Optum in New York. As a valued member of our radiology department, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional patient care and producing high-quality mammographic images for successful diagnosis by radiologists.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure accurate identification of anatomical orientation on all required images and proper file identification on all images
  • Demonstrate proficiency in performing all mammographic procedures and operating related equipment
  • Greet patients, obtain medical history, and enter information into the computer system
  • Obtain mammographic images according to established guidelines
  • Maintain logs and process paperwork for biopsies
  • Utilize sterile techniques to prevent contamination
  • Meet quality standards related to HIPAA regulations
  • Maintain a clean and organized examination area, restock necessary supplies
  • Assist with accreditation processes and maintain CPR certification
  • Monitor patient vital signs during examinations
  • Provide coverage as needed, offer instruction and mentoring to new hires
  • Deliver exceptional patient experiences, educate patients on procedures, and ensure follow-up steps are understood
  • Communicate effectively with radiologists, physicians, patients, and families
  • Submit diagnostic-quality images without recommendation for additional acquisitions, perform quality assurance on images and equipment
  • Conduct daily QA evaluations, including processor QC and phantom QC
  • Document monthly, quarterly, and yearly QC testing results
  • Operate equipment efficiently, troubleshoot issues, and order supplies
  • Deliver positive patient experiences, share knowledge about procedures, and ensure follow-up requirements are met
  • Prioritize excellent patient care, address concerns before and after examinations
  • Analyze radiologic films for properties such as density, contrast, definition, magnification, and distortion
  • Solve problems authoritatively and wisely, considering various available courses of action
  • Contribute to efficient outpatient operations, maximize productivity of assigned modality
  • Review each examination for technical accuracy, present completed examinations to radiologists, and communicate pertinent data
  • Foster teamwork, interact positively with employees, and contribute to a collaborative work environment
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • ARRT (M) certified and Diagnostic Mammography certified
  • Able to use and learn departmental computer systems and devices
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate degree or Baccalaureate degree in radiography, radiation therapy, or nuclear medicine
  • 1+ years of experience as a general radiologic technologist
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Effective communication skills with patients, visitors, and employees
Work Environment:
  • Standing and walking for extended periods
  • Lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Lifting patients up to 300 pounds and positioning them for equipment operation
  • Correctable eyesight to 20/20 for equipment operation and film review
Estimated Salary: $47.42 - $81.75 per hour

This role is based on factors like local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, and more. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
