Position Overview:
As a key member of the auditing team, you will oversee and guide subordinate auditing staff while conducting comprehensive financial and operational audits of a complex nature.
Qualifications:
To qualify for this role, candidates must possess permanent status as an Auditor Assistant with the City of New Orleans or the Sewerage and Water Board, along with a minimum of one (1) year of experience in that classification.
Educational Requirements:
A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from an accredited institution is required. Alternatively, a Bachelor's Degree in another discipline with at least fifteen (15) semester hours in accounting and nine (9) additional hours in either economics, management, or another business-related course will be considered.
Experience:
Applicants must have at least one (1) year of professional auditing experience.
Note:
Possession of a current Certified Public Accountant Certificate in Louisiana may substitute for one (1) year of the required experience.
Additional Requirements:
Some positions may necessitate a valid driver's license and access to an automobile.
Application Process:
All applications must be submitted in accordance with the specified guidelines. Late submissions will not be accepted.
Working Test Period:
The probationary period for all classified service positions is one year.
Substance Abuse Testing:
The City of New Orleans implements a comprehensive substance abuse testing program. Candidates for certain positions may be required to undergo pre-employment substance abuse screening.
Character Requirements:
All applicants must demonstrate good moral character. Disqualification may occur if an applicant's character or employment history is deemed unsatisfactory.
Veterans Preference:
Veterans and certain family members may receive additional credit during the examination process as outlined in the Veterans Preference claim form.
