Job Summary

The Supervisor II, Laboratory (Lab) is responsible for overseeing laboratory testing, monitoring workflow, and guiding teammate performance. This role evaluates compliance with service guarantees and specimen quality requirements, ensuring adherence to corporate policies related to job performance, customer interactions, teammate relations, and information confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervision and Workflow Management:
    • Oversee departmental workflow and ensure effective implementation of tasks.
    • Ensure teammate adherence to procedures and quality assurance requirements.
    • Lead the development of departmental policies and procedures for performance and quality assurance.
    • Serve as a resource for teammates, supporting training and competency programs.
    • Monitor performance against established targets, goals, or metrics.
    • Identify opportunities for process improvement within the department.
  • Leadership and Team Development:
    • Facilitate the resolution of organizational obstacles.
    • Communicate and implement Client's employment policies and foster a positive work environment.
    • Assist in teammate development through coaching, mentoring, and professional development planning.
    • Manage teammate employment activities, including hiring, promotions, evaluations, and disciplinary actions.
  • Operational Management:
    • Establish staffing plans to optimize resource utilization.
    • Address operational and quality issues related to workload.
    • Ensure coverage during teammate absences and step in to cover tasks as needed.
  • Quality Improvement and Compliance:
    • Participate actively in the laboratory's quality improvement initiatives.
    • Collaborate with leaders to develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures.
    • Ensure compliance with regulatory and accrediting requirements.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 6-8 years of experience as a Medical Technologist/Supervisor.
  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, biological sciences, or related field.
  • FL Supervisor's license in Chemistry.
  • Certification by a professional laboratory certifying agency (e.g., ASCP, AMT).
