Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Radiologic Technologist to join our Interventional Radiology team at Advocate Aurora Health. As an Interventional Radiologic Technologist, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and technical expertise in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Position patients in proper positions to radiographically demonstrate correct anatomy
  • Obtain radiographic DSA and DA images for interventional procedures and transmit all images to PACS for interpretation by the radiologist
  • Participate in and assist in complex interventional procedures such as de-clotting of blood vessels, UFE, Venous ablations, and other peripheral vascular procedures
  • Perform procedures with Interventional Radiologists, vascular surgeons, neuro radiologists, neurosurgeons, and other specialists
  • Prepare patients in a sterile fashion for procedures and maintain radiographic equipment and preparation of examination rooms and supplies
  • Assist the radiologist as needed during the performance of angiograms and special procedures
  • Prepare patients for the exam in a sterile fashion, including sterile prep and drape of the patient, preparation of injectable contrast and solutions
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment by performing minor daily housekeeping tasks contributing to the overall cleanliness of work area
  • Use Universal Precautions in daily performance of procedures and protect self against bodily fluid contact
  • Explain examination to patients and families and round on patient and family to ensure they are kept informed of procedure progress
  • Maintain positive customer relations following prescribed department policies
  • Participate in team problem-solving issues that would improve patient care, department operations, image quality, interdepartmental relationships, and employee satisfaction
Requirements
  • Must have attended an AMA-approved School of Radiologic Technology and be ARRT registered
  • Ability to perform most interventional radiology procedures usually performed in special labs with close supervision of the radiologist
  • Ability to use various types of radiographic equipment to obtain images of optimal quality
  • Ability to communicate with patients and deal with extremely ill patients
  • Ability to adjust to flexible work hours, long hours, overtime hours, and participate in on-call programs
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance and use patient handling equipment when necessary
