Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Interventional Vascular Technologist to join our team at the Cleveland Clinic. As a key member of our radiology department, you will play a critical role in providing technical assistance in performing diagnostic and interventional procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Utilize sterile or aseptic technique to scrub in and perform vascular, interventional, and surgical procedures per protocol.
  • Establish effective working relationships and utilize a team approach to process improvement.
  • Perform duties in instances where normal, routine practice cannot be applied, often in high-stress situations.
  • Educate patients regarding procedures, equipment, and exams to ensure understanding and cooperation.
  • Ensure patient safety and comfort during and after exams.
  • Set up or operate injector to administer contrast agents for procedures.
  • Manually inject contrast agent if no pressure injector is utilized.
  • Operate ancillary equipment adherent to specific procedures.
  • Check and prepare patient prior to Vascular-Interventional study.
  • Screen patients for ability to undergo procedure by understanding baseline lab requirements.
  • Demonstrate understanding of primary purpose of drugs used in IR, indications, contraindications, contrast drug interactions, and major effects.
  • Position patient to obtain radiographic exposure, adjust exposure factors, and process images.
  • Adapt imaging and therapeutic procedures with professional judgment to improve diagnostic quality and therapeutic outcome.
  • Acquire, archive, transmit, and print images via PACS.
  • Complete after-hours transmission of images and appropriate paperwork.
  • Immediately report malfunctions to help desk and PACS Administrator.
  • Process billing via RIS.
  • Record and maintain procedural data, including injection data, elapsed fluoroscopic time, and procedural information.
  • Provide after-hours standby call-in service.
  • Monitor equipment, systems, clean equipment, and effect timely repair.
  • Teach and instruct students and new hires.
  • Learns new technical information and skills through attendance of periodic in-service programs and participation in professional affiliation sessions.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an AMA-approved school of Radiologic Technology.
  • Must be a Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), in good standing.
  • Certification in Cardiovascular-Interventional Radiography: R.T.(R)(CV)(ARRT) or Vascular-Interventional Radiology: R.T.(R)(VI)(ARRT) preferred.
  • Current state licensure (RL) required prior to employment.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
