Position Overview

This role involves conducting Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) examinations to produce detailed three-dimensional images of tissues, organs, and other bodily structures, which are utilized by radiologists for identifying irregularities, making diagnoses, and providing patient care.

Key Responsibilities

*12-hour day shifts, with occasional on-call duties*

Essential Qualifications

Education: Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Certification in Basic or Advanced Life Support is mandatory.
  • One of the following combinations is required:
  • Registered MRI Technologist through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT-MR) or
  • Registered Radiological Technologist via the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT-R) and Registered MRI Technologist through the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT).

Experience / Knowledge / Skills:

  • Capability to lift and/or assist patients in collaboration with others to fulfill job responsibilities.

Primary Duties

  • Conducts MRI procedures on patients: Prepares individuals for MRI examinations, elucidates the process, administers contrast agents when necessary, positions patients appropriately for the MRI scanner, selects suitable imaging techniques, and guarantees the technical quality of the scans.
  • Records and monitors patient information.
  • Performs quality assurance checks on MRI equipment and matrix cameras. May assist with initial and renewal applications for ACR and other accreditations.
  • Identifies and reports any incidents, grievances, or equipment malfunctions to departmental management.
  • Responds to emergency calls within the department.
  • Ensures safe care for patients, staff, and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary constraints, including time management, supply management, productivity, and service quality.
  • Encourages personal professional growth and development by fulfilling requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based objectives that contribute to the organization's success; serves as a mentor and resource for less experienced personnel.
