Work Schedule:
Full-time, 72 hours per pay period; three, 12-hour shifts weekly from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM

Weekend Commitment:
Every 4th weekend with available weekend shift differential

Role Summary:
The Registered Nurse role is dedicated to delivering high-quality, professional nursing care to patients. This position involves assessing, planning, implementing, documenting, and evaluating patient care for a designated group of patients within the department. The RN must adapt effectively to daily assignment changes, patient status fluctuations, and unit requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Employ and sustain the nursing process throughout the patient's hospital stay, ensuring care is tailored to meet individual patient needs.
2. Demonstrate a solid understanding of disease processes, anticipated treatments, laboratory results, vital signs, and potential complications related to diagnoses.
3. Initiate, develop, and document a patient care plan based on thorough assessment and medical diagnosis, prioritizing nursing actions in line with departmental standards.
4. Provide care independently within the framework of unit protocols, physician orders, and established policies, with minimal supervision.
5. Respond to critical situations in accordance with nursing standards, policies, and protocols.
6. Maintain comprehensive knowledge of procedures and treatments, effectively communicating them to patients at their comprehension level.
7. Perform or assist with procedures as per approved departmental guidelines.
8. Observe and document significant changes in patient conditions, promptly notifying the provider of any alterations, drug reactions, or significant incidents.
9. Monitor, document, and communicate patient conditions utilizing computerized documentation systems.
10. Acknowledge and act on physician orders through the electronic medical record (EMR) system, ensuring timely follow-through or delegation.
11. Exhibit proficiency in medication administration, including IV therapy, as evidenced by a record of no medication errors.
12. Develop and implement patient/family education plans and discharge needs based on individualized patient requirements, as directed by the provider and/or hospital policy.
13. Collaborate with other healthcare team members in planning and delivering care based on patient needs.
14. Maintain and enhance skills and equipment competencies as necessary.
15. Safely manage care for multiple patients while ensuring a secure environment and adhering to safety protocols.
16. Demonstrate understanding and application of Universal Precautions, asepsis, and infection control measures.
17. Ensure proper handling of specimens.
18. Float to other units as required.
19. Engage in departmental or unit quality improvement initiatives.
20. Attend unit meetings in accordance with unit policies.

Qualifications:
1. A two-year nursing degree is required; a four-year degree is preferred.
2. Must possess and maintain a valid nursing license. RNs with an active Compact Licensure must obtain a Wisconsin RN license within a specified timeframe after relocation.
3. BLS certification is required within one month of hire; ACLS certification is required within two years, and PALS is encouraged within two years.
4. Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy is essential.

1. Intermediate computer proficiency is required.
2. Comprehensive nursing skills and general knowledge of medical equipment are necessary.
3. Strong ability to manage, coordinate, and evaluate patient care and education for patients and families.
