About the Role

Amazon is building experiences to delight Amazon Prime customers and gamers across the globe. As a Software Development Engineer on the Prime Gaming team, you will join a team focused on building services and front-end experiences that deliver joy to Prime members through free games, Twitch benefits, and new disruptive game benefits.

We are looking for a highly collaborative team player who is excited to work closely with a cross-functional team. Ambiguity motivates you to invent and solve problems, and you don't shy away from change and build on learnings. You will influence business and technical strategy, contribute to engineering excellence standards, and help maintain highly reliable live services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design simple interfaces to solve complex enterprise-facing problems
  • Design, build, and operate scalable, reliable, and maintainable distributed services
  • Seek out optimizations and automation opportunities
  • Execute projects from scoping requirements through launch
  • Support team members with mentorship and guidance

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

  • 4+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
  • Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
  • Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems
  • Experience in the Games Industry (supporting title Development, Release, or Live Ops)

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
