Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse 4-On Call

We are seeking a highly motivated and qualified Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN4) to join our team at the WA State Penitentiary in Walla Walla, WA. As an LPN4, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting the department's mission to improve public safety.

Job Summary:

The LPN4 will work under the direct or indirect supervision of a Registered Nurse to implement the nursing process and deliver services to promote health, foster healing, and support coping and adjustment to various health conditions. This role requires a strong commitment to providing safe, effective, and efficient patient care in a correctional setting.

Responsibilities:
  • Administer medication and use tools, techniques, and physical and cognitive skills and abilities to practice nursing safety and effectively in the correctional setting.
  • Provide competent patient care, self-evaluate, and practice professional nursing conduct at all times.
  • Delegate and assign tasks to other staff as appropriate and provide effective communication and documentation.
  • Perform other tasks assigned by management.
Requirements:
  • Initial and continuous unencumbered licensure in the State of Washington as a Licensed Practical Nurse or an unencumbered Multistate License from a participating Compact Licensure State.
  • Completion of Suicide Prevention, EDIR training, and MLS demographic survey.
  • Two years of experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Proficient using computer-based programs to schedule, monitor, and track patient information, perform data entry and word processing, and communicate via email, as well as other programs that may be needed to complete assigned work.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working as a nurse in an acute care setting or a correctional facility.
  • Graduation from an accredited school of practical nursing whose accreditation is recognized by the US Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
