Position Overview:

This position is designed for the academic year, focusing on delivering high-quality education in the Spanish language.

Compensation:

Certified educators will receive a starting salary of $66,000*, while non-certified educators will start at $58,000*. Note that the certified starting salary includes a $5,000 hiring incentive for Bilingual Certification. All starting salaries also incorporate a $1,000 incentive for K-2 educators and a late hire bonus of $1,000.

Primary Responsibilities:

The primary goal is to provide students with engaging learning experiences in the Spanish language, facilitating their intellectual, emotional, physical, and social development. This role is crucial in helping students acquire the necessary skills to thrive in society.

Qualifications:

Education and Certification:

A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is required. A valid teaching certificate in Texas with the necessary endorsements for the assigned subject and level is preferred.

Special Knowledge and Skills:

Strong understanding of the Spanish language and curriculum design is essential. The ability to effectively instruct students and manage classroom behavior is critical, along with excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Experience:

Preferred candidates will have at least one year of student teaching or an approved internship.

Key Duties:

Instructional Strategies:

1. Design and execute lesson plans that meet district curriculum standards, ensuring thorough preparation and adaptation for diverse student needs.

2. Utilize various instructional methods and resources that cater to different learning styles, aligning with guidelines set by educational authorities.

3. Assess student learning styles to inform instructional planning.

4. Collaborate with special education staff to tailor curricula for students with special needs as outlined in their Individual Education Plans (IEP).

5. Work with colleagues to establish instructional goals and methods in accordance with district standards.

6. Supervise and guide the work of instructional aides and volunteers.

Student Development:

7. Conduct regular assessments of student progress through both formal and informal evaluations.

8. Take charge of extracurricular activities as assigned, fostering student engagement outside the classroom.

9. Serve as a positive role model, embodying the mission of the educational institution.

Classroom Management:

10. Create a learning environment that supports the physical, social, and emotional growth of students.

11. Manage student behavior in accordance with established conduct codes.

12. Ensure the safety of students and the integrity of classroom materials and equipment.

13. Assist in the selection of instructional materials and resources.

14. Maintain accurate records and documentation as required.
