Job Summary

Promote high-quality, cost-effective medical care, patient satisfaction, and healthcare provider/staff satisfaction throughout Huntsville Hospital by facilitating the efficient use of computers and clinical information technologies.

Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and strategic direction for laboratory clinical informatics programs for patient services and related programs.
  • Serve as an interface with the clinical staff, appropriate departments, and committees to ensure coordination in planning, development, implementation, and ongoing support of new and existing laboratory clinical informatics initiatives.
  • Assist with the overall coordination, implementation, and support of clinical informatics changes and services, particularly to address the clinical needs of patients and support the practice of clinical staff.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of strategies to move Huntsville Hospital Health System toward a fully integrated computerized patient record.
  • Incorporate the organization's strategic objectives for patient care in the management and evaluation of the organization's clinical information systems.
Qualifications
  • Require a Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Preferred candidate will be a medical laboratory technician (MT, MLT, MLS) with working knowledge of information technologies.
  • Require recent experience in a clinical setting.
  • Laboratory healthcare information system or related information system experience preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of current clinical information technology and applications preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with clinical information systems.
  • Ability to adapt to new situations, set priorities, and utilize problem-solving techniques with minimal direction and appropriate collaboration.
  • Multiple years of experience in managing or working in a clinical informatics setting strongly preferred.
