Nuclear Medicine Technologist

We are seeking a skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team at Advocate Health. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures using nuclear medicine techniques.
Key Responsibilities- Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures using nuclear medicine techniques, including general and cardiac procedures.
- Review patient medical records to obtain necessary clinical information and compare requisitions to physician orders to ensure exam accuracy.
- Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals and procedural adjunctive medication according to approved exam parameters.
- Perform venipuncture and placement of peripheral IV catheters for medication administration, and access other vascular access devices as needed.
- Follow correct procedures for handling radioactive materials and maintain accurate records of pharmaceutical doses.
- Relay pertinent patient history information to appropriate staff and departments.
- Post-process images as directed and accurately identify and label images.
- Maintain records in accordance with various regulatory agencies and enter patient and study information into the radiology information system.
- Identify equipment performance issues and perform equipment quality assurance tests and calibration procedures.
- Perform patient positioning and transporting duties, which require lifting and pushing/pulling, while utilizing proper technique.
- Nuclear Medicine Tech (N) registration issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) within 1 year.
- Nuclear Medicine Technologist certification (CNMT) issued by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) within 6 months.
- Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent knowledge) in Nuclear Medicine.
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and radiation safety.
- Knowledge of Radioactive Materials Program Requirements (State of WI) DHS 157.
- Competent in IV and venipuncture.
- Basic ECG interpretation, heart rhythm recognition, and pharmacological knowledge.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient service skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Intermediate computer skills.
This position requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, and twist throughout the workday. The incumbent must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist, lift up to 20 lbs. over the head, and carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance. The incumbent must also be able to push/pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.
The incumbent may be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and radiation hazards as well as blood and body fluids. Personal protective equipment must be worn as necessary.
The incumbent must have clear speech, vision, and hearing, and be able to operate all equipment necessary to perform the job.
