Your Role at The Ladders
This position is integral to the broader Accounting and Finance team and will concentrate on the precise accounting for significant transactions. This includes, but is not limited to, various ownership structures, site-level accounting assessments, intercompany transactions, and business consolidations. This role will report directly to the Director and Controller and is expected to effectively support multiple concurrent projects for our expanding organization. All responsibilities will be executed in alignment with best-in-class practices, ensuring auditable documentation for revenue and accounts receivable-related accounts.

Key Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop and oversee new or revised accounting procedures based on changing company entity structures, including joint ventures and variable interest entities, applying industry standards to ensure accounting precision and efficiency.
  • Interpret U.S. GAAP accounting standards and SEC guidance to enhance or establish new accounting workflows that support new, materially significant, and/or complex transactions.
  • Focus on site-level reviews and reconciliations to guarantee that each independent operation is accounted for consistently and appropriately.
  • Create improved accounting process flows, document procedures, and manage all allocations and management service fees among consolidated and non-consolidated operations.
  • Execute elimination entries for all financial transactions involving non-standard ownership structures.
  • Prepare or review technical accounting memorandums for significant transactions and assist in the review process with finance management and external auditors.
  • Identify and document potential impacts of new US GAAP and IFRS accounting standards on the business and support the implementation of necessary process and accounting changes.
  • Review and approve all accounting transactions in the accounting system related to non-standard ownership structures.
  • Analyze and explain site-level variances for multiple entities and sales offerings using data visualization tools and custom reporting.
  • Address ad hoc executive requests regarding financial performance, trends, and future expectations; contribute to strategic decisions affecting accounting operations.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external partners to facilitate smooth audits and reviews of accounting controls and procedures.
  • Collaborate closely with FP&A to enhance site-level forecasting accuracy.
  • Regularly solve unique transaction challenges, focusing on how resolutions contribute to the accuracy of financial statements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • Comprehensive understanding of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles, including US GAAP and IFRS.
  • Experience with purchase accounting, equity-based accounting, and divestiture accounting, particularly in relation to joint ventures and variable interest entities.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with data visualization tools is highly encouraged.
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills.
  • Experience with US GAAP audited financial statements and related disclosures.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a professional demeanor.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, promoting inclusiveness and communication.
  • Accountability with minimal supervision and remote-based teamwork.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's Degree in accounting or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of seven years of experience in accounting roles involving technical and complex transactions, preferably in the technology sector.
  • Experience with ERP systems is desirable.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Primarily sedentary with some walking, standing, and bending.
  • Able to communicate effectively via telephone.
  • Close visual work on a computer terminal.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate required computer equipment.
  • Able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
WORK CONDITIONS & OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • Frequent daily use of a computer or workstation.
  • This position is expected to be remote with occasional onsite requirements.
  • Occasional travel may be necessary.
  • Must possess a valid state-issued driver's license.
This is a remote position that requires a reliable internet connection. A monthly stipend is provided to cover expenses associated with remote work.
