Key Responsibilities- Identify potential payor sources including auto insurance, Workers' Compensation, commercial insurance, and private insurance.
- Assist patients in completing the Confidential Financial Statement form and guide them through the application process for eligible benefits.
- Conduct interviews with patients and their families, ensuring thorough documentation of all activities performed during the patient accounting cycle.
- Perform financial clearance functions, including collections and the cancellation of accounts lacking patient cooperation.
- Follow up on assigned accounts to ensure timely processing of government applications.
- Develop strong relationships with patients through effective communication, facilitating quicker processing of government program eligibility.
- Conduct field visits to assist patients with necessary documentation and skip tracing.
- Communicate case screening determinations and outcomes to hospital staff through verbal and written methods.
To excel in this role, candidates should possess:
- Familiarity with federal, state, and county program regulations.
- Proficiency in P/C systems, including Windows and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, with a clear understanding of the English language.
- Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Preferred bilingual skills (Spanish).
A high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with a minimum of two years of experience in social services, hospital admitting, or a related field.
Physical RequirementsCandidates must be able to:
- Work at a computer terminal for extended periods.
- Navigate a hospital environment, including patient bedside visits.
- Travel as necessary.
This position involves working in both hospital and office settings, with direct interaction with patients and staff.
