Key Responsibilities- Provide System Architecture Guidance: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement system architecture designs that meet the requirements of our Mac products.
- Charging Architecture Expertise: Provide guidance on system charging architecture, including battery life and charger IC requirements.
- Workload Power Budgets: Establish and drive workload power budgets at system and module levels to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
- Peak Power Measurements: Perform and guide peak power measurements on device hardware to validate power models and ensure accurate system design.
- Product System Integration: Determine product system integration feasibility through collaboration with mechanical, physical, thermal, and electrical engineering teams.
- System Architecture Specifications: Author system architecture specifications, block diagrams, and conduct reviews with product teams.
- Performance and Power Efficiency: Collaborate with performance architects to define, model, and drive improvements in performance, power efficiency, and cost.
- Thermal Management: Analyze, guide, and support thermal management solutions and trade-offs to ensure optimal system performance.
- Future-Proofing: Anticipate future SoC requirements and negotiate with internal SoC teams to align with system product goals.
- Innovation and Curiosity: Explore and champion new product-level features and workflows to drive innovation and excellence.
- 10+ Years of Experience: Minimum 10 years of relevant industrial experience in computer systems architecture.
- Electrical Engineering Background: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant field.
- Lithium-Ion Battery Expertise: Experience with Lithium-ion batteries and USB adapters for charging and analyzing end-to-end system charging behaviors.
- Technical Breadth: Strong technical breadth across several computer subsystem technologies, including CPU, GPU, storage, memory, audio, display, input devices, power delivery, power management, networking, wireless, I/O, thermal management, cameras, and sensors.
- Communication Skills: Ability to create, review, and approve engineering requirement specification documents, and effectively communicate technical issues and actions to key collaborators and leadership teams.
