Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Surgery Scheduler to join our team at USPI. As a key member of our operational team, you will be responsible for coordinating and scheduling patient procedures, ensuring efficient and accurate processing of information.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set priorities and organize work to ensure seamless scheduling and coordination of patient procedures.
  • Schedule patient procedures to ensure efficient and accurate processing of information, including procedures in the operating room, GI lab, and arrangements for 23-hour stay.
  • Coordinate with anesthesia groups to confirm scheduling for coverage.
  • Accurately use procedure codes to ensure proper billing.
  • Verify information being entered into the system is correct, including spelling of name, DOB, gender, insurance information, etc.
  • Ensure all necessary paperwork for any patient is received by the appropriate staff.
  • Communicate changes to the schedule to appropriate staff.
  • Ensure all required fields in Advantx are completed.
  • Work closely with OR director to avoid equipment or supply conflicts.
  • Alert administration when new doctors or procedures are scheduled.
  • Cross-train with other areas.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Complete consents and ensure accuracy before submitting to the chart builder.
  • Promote positive relationships with scheduling coordinators, physicians, and nursing staff members throughout the scheduling process.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2-4 years of hospital or medical office experience required.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and non-verbally in a professional way.
  • Ability to use time wisely in preparing work area to meet high-paced demand.
  • Show a genuine desire to work and improve the hospital as a whole.
  • Professional appearance.
  • Strong medical terminology.
  • Must demonstrate excellent phone etiquette and exceptional customer service skills.
