Job Title: Diesel Mechanic/Technician

We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic/Technician to join our team at Ryder in Jacksonville, FL. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing routine preventative maintenance, diagnosing complex mechanical and electronic problems, and completing detailed mechanical inspections and repairs.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including routine preventative maintenance and diagnostic repairs
  • Diagnose complex mechanical and electronic problems utilizing diagnostic computer when applicable
  • Complete complex and detailed mechanical inspections and repairs with minimal supervision
  • Work unsupervised on most tasks and interact with customers/drivers to properly determine the nature of complaints
  • Utilize key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation available
  • Work in accordance with all federal/provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (ie, safety, DOT, MOT)
  • Act as mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels
  • Demonstrate the ability to access and use internal and external maintenance documents
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Vocational or Technical Certification Post Secondary degree or Technical Certifications, preferred
  • Basic tools, required
  • Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance and diagnostic repairs
  • Three (3) years or more relevant work experience, preferred
  • Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A, preferred
  • All other certification as required by location, required
