Job Title: Rock Island Class A Delivery Driver

As a Class A Delivery Driver for Performance Food Group, you will play a critical role in ensuring the timely and safe delivery of food and food-related products to our customers. This is a full-time position with a 4-day workweek, Tuesday through Friday, with a 4:30 am start time.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Drive a tractor trailer or straight truck on intrastate and interstate local drive and drop routes to deliver and/or unload food and food-related products to customers in a safe and timely manner.
  • Communicate and interact with customers, vendors, and co-workers professionally, ensuring questions are answered accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Perform all required safety checks, including inspections of the tractor/truck and trailer, to ensure they meet company safety standards and take appropriate action as needed.
  • Report all safety issues and/or repairs required, follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies, and immediately report all safety hazards.
  • Inspect the trailer for properly loaded and secured freight, perform count checks of items, and check customer invoices of products that have been loaded.
  • Complete all required paperwork associated with freight, including scanning and contacting the supervisor about removing orders according to company policy.
  • Verify delivery of items with the customer and obtain proper signatures, collect money (cash or checks) where required, and load customer returns onto the trailer and secure the trailer doors.
  • Ensure that the tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked and/or always secured, unload damaged goods and customer returns, and bring them to the driver check-in and complete necessary paperwork.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties in the tractor, loading dock area, and keep trailers clear and clean as required.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent
  • 6+ months commercial driving experience
  • Valid CDL-A
  • Must be 21+ years of age
  • Meet all State licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable)
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for past 3 years
  • Pass post-offer drug test and criminal background check
  • Pass road test
  • Attain new DOT Health Card
Preferred Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent 1+ years foodservice distribution industry experience
  • Onboard computer and electronic log system experience (i.e., PeopleNet)
  • Hand-held point of delivery scanning system experience (i.e., POD)
  • Customer service-related work experience
