Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Culinary Supervisor to join our team at American Lutheran Homes Menomonie. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for overseeing the total function, direction, and supervision of all dietary services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Supervision
    • Plan, coordinate, document, and supervise resident nutritional care
    • Develop, implement, and maintain dietary service objectives, policies, and procedures
    • Foster positive communication within the dietary department and the organization as a whole
    • Promote the organization's team concept, interpret philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures of the organization to dietary personnel
  • Compliance and Quality Assurance
    • Decide and perform all duties in accordance with organization's policies/procedures, state and federal regulations, and in conformity with recognized standards
    • Ensure compliance of dietary department with state/federal regulations
    • Evaluate the resident's nutritional status
    • Aware of resident nutritional needs through observation, participation in care planning, resident/family input
  • Staff Management and Development
    • Recruit and hire qualified dietary personnel necessary to meet or exceed the needs of the residents and facility
    • Supervise scheduling of staff/staff assignments, ensure fair and consistent treatment of all staff
    • Continually monitor and evaluate staff
    • Investigate and initiate incidents of discipline/corrective action (including discharge), if necessary, according to established personnel procedures
  • Financial Management
    • Plan annual dietary budget and/or work within approved budget; supervise and approve all dietary purchases
  • Communication and Confidentiality
    • Recognize and meet needs of the residents, families, and standards
    • Maintain and safeguard confidential information
    • Communicate effectively with residents, families, co-workers, and public
  • Professional Development
    • Function independently in situations that require professional judgment
    • Participate in Quality Assurance/Improvement Plan
    Requirements
    • Certified Dietary Manager
    • Supervisory experience in a long-term care setting preferred
    • Follows/adheres to organization, federal, and state regulations and guidelines, including Resident/Client rights
    • Maintains neat, well-groomed appearance, adhering to dress code of organization/program
    Physical Requirements
    • Frequent twisting, occasional bending
    • Reaches at shoulder height frequently, reaches above or below shoulder height occasionally
    • Lifts and carries less than 25#
    • 70% of work day is spent sitting; 20% walking, 10% standing
    • Adapts to frequent interruptions/ changing situations
    • Must be able to communicate orally and/or in writing with residents, co-workers, families, public
