Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Histology Technician to join our team at Highmark Health. As a Histology Technician, you will play a critical role in preparing tissue samples for pathological diagnosis and assisting pathologists in gross dissection and postmortem examinations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Embed, section, and process tissue samples in accordance with department policies and procedures to produce high-quality slides for pathologist review.
  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain instrumentation to ensure accurate and reliable results.
  • Perform routine and special staining procedures to enhance tissue visualization.
  • Assist pathologists in the operation room with intraoperative consultations and frozen sections.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring adequate supplies for efficient laboratory operations.
  • May assist with specimen collection and mentor students or new employees in laboratory testing.
Qualifications
  • HT (ASCP) certification or eligibility, with the ability to obtain certification within one year of hire.
  • Preferred: One year of clinical histology experience.
