Job Summary:

As a Staff Counsel/Attorney, you will provide legal representation to CCPOA members in all aspects of labor relations and employment actions with public agencies in California. This includes administrative hearings, PERB, litigation in state and federal courts, union business, and representation in critical incident investigations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal counsel and representation to CCPOA members
  • Represent members in administrative hearings, PERB, and litigation in state and federal courts
  • Work closely with our Supervising Counsel and Chief Counsel to develop and implement legal strategies
  • Represent members in critical incident investigations, including officer-involved shootings and in-custody deaths
  • Stay up-to-date on relevant laws and regulations affecting public safety and labor relations

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited university
  • Admission to the California State Bar
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Outlook, and Westlaw/Lexis
  • Valid California State Drivers' License
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check and obtain a CDCR Contractor Identification Card
