We are seeking a highly qualified Assistant/Associate Professor of Agronomy to join our team at the Louisiana State University Agricultural Center. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing a research and extension program focused on enhancing the profitability of major field crops in the Northeast Region of Louisiana.
Responsibilities:- Develop and manage research projects to evaluate traditional and innovative agronomic systems, with a focus on soil health and cover crops.
- Collaborate with other faculty members to enhance existing agronomic and pest management research and extension programs in the region.
- Design and implement extension programs to educate stakeholders on agronomic field crops, including networking with county agents, consultants, and producers.
- Conduct presentations at field days, meetings, and professional conferences to disseminate research findings.
- Secure extramural funding from federal and state agencies, commodity research boards, and agricultural industries.
- Manage personnel and equipment resources, including farm crew activities.
- Ph.D. in Agronomy, Plant Science, Soil Science, or a related field.
- Experience in production of agronomic crops, precision agriculture, soil fertility, and plant nutrition is highly desirable.
- Good interpersonal skills and leadership abilities are required for working effectively with diverse professional and lay audiences.

This is a 12-month tenure-track appointment located at the Tom H. Scott Research and Extension Center in Winnsboro, LA. The position is 70% research and 30% extension.
The successful candidate will be a faculty member of the LSU AgCenter Northeast Region and will have opportunities for research and extension activities at three research stations in the Northeast Region.
