Job Summary

This role is responsible for ensuring a safe and healthy work environment at Michael Foods, Inc. in Yuma, Arizona. The Safety Supervisor will lead initiatives to reduce product and process variability, while maintaining compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP's, and maintain sanitary conditions to ensure product quality.
  • Report any conditions or practices that may adversely affect employee safety or food safety/quality to management immediately.
  • Attend and actively participate in safety meetings/trainings.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance at all times.
  • Lead Element 1 and act as a technical resource for all other SRMP teams.
  • Identify employee safety training needs and develop/update training materials.
  • Maintain/monitor investigation, record keeping, and follow-up regarding all workplace accidents.
  • Ensure compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations (standards) as well as other governmental agencies.
  • Work with workers compensation carrier and third-party providers to ensure cost-effective and appropriate handling of all workers compensation claims.
  • Determine requirements associated with personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Maintain and update all written safety programs.
  • Support the entire management team in administering appropriate and consistent disciplinary actions for violation of safety rules and policy.
  • Schedule and coordinate required industrial safety testing and monitoring.
  • Participate in company-wide safety and training teams.
  • Actively support other team members in their efforts to support facilities safety and health programs.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
  • 3-5+ years' experience in a workplace safety role.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal safety compliance and regulatory issues, including the Occupational Safety and Health Act.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
