Carpenter Supervisor Job Description

Arizona Western College is seeking a skilled Carpenter Supervisor to lead our carpentry team in maintaining and improving campus facilities. As a Carpenter Supervisor, you will oversee various construction, maintenance, and repair projects, ensuring our campus remains safe, functional, and well-maintained.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Organize and supervise assigned crews and individual personnel engaged in general construction, repair, and maintenance of school equipment, facilities, and properties.
  • Plan, estimate, and oversee construction, renovation, and installation of carpentry projects, ensuring code compliance and developing cost estimates.
  • Provide training and guidance to carpenters, ensuring they possess the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
  • Design and implement carpentry projects, considering factors such as safety, efficiency, and aesthetics.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, and general contractors to ensure that construction projects meet design goals, specifications, and deadlines.
Requirements:
  • Completion of a vocational or technical program in carpentry or a related field, or completion of an apprenticeship program in carpentry or a related field, and experience as a leadman or supervisor in an industry-related trade or equivalent.
  • OR High school diploma or equivalent and 5 years of commercial building experience as a journeyman carpenter.
  • OR Any other combination of training and experience that demonstrates the applicant's ability to possess the required knowledge and abilities may be considered.
Working Environment:

The Carpenter Supervisor will work in a variety of settings, including indoors and outdoors, and may be required to work in extreme weather conditions. The position requires the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull objects weighing at least 50 pounds, and to navigate various departments and structures of the organization's physical premises.

Travel:

The Carpenter Supervisor may be required to travel to other locations using various modes of private, commercial, or fleet transportation, and as needed to supervise the carpentry work at all AWC Campuses, and to support program, department, and institutional needs.
