Key ResponsibilitiesTransportation Management System (TMS) Operations
- Maintain and update carrier rates in the TMS utilizing .csv files derived from the Master Rate Access File to ensure precise freight pricing.
- Establish and oversee automated carrier dispatch within the TMS, employing the Carrier Dispatch Access File to create .csv files for upload, enabling plants to efficiently tender shipments.
- Provide training to carriers on TMS dispatch functionalities and assist with password resets as needed.
- Support plant personnel with TMS-related inquiries and issues.
- Analyze the SAP Unrated Report daily to identify and rectify shipment rating discrepancies.
- Manage the transition of railroad pricing from Through Rates to 'Rule 11' rates, addressing the complexities of dual freight invoices for single rail movements.
Sales and Customer Support
- Generate rate quotes for Sales or Customer Service by soliciting quotes from carriers when rates are not pre-established, and input new rates into the TMS for future reference.
- Provide quarterly expenditure reports to assist in calculating customer pricing in relation to Escalation Agreements.
- Engage in Supply calls to gain insights into any logistics-related challenges faced by plants or the business.
- Foster relationships with motor carriers and assist plants in securing carriers for load coverage as necessary.
Data Analysis and Reporting
- Create Power BI dashboards that deliver actionable insights, such as Prepaid & Add and Prepaid & Allow, to enhance freight profitability.
- Conduct freight cost analyses to uncover potential savings opportunities.
- Lead or participate in cost-saving initiatives and projects, including demurrage management and spot quote evaluations.
Rail Fleet Management
- Produce daily fleet reports for all plants using data extracted from QTS and processed through the Rail Fleet Access File.
- Keep track of tank car testing schedules and obtain maintenance dispositions from car owners, coordinating the routing of cars for testing and repairs.
- Collaborate with QTS to redirect cars as needed.
- Monitor daily reports to ensure proper car movement and correct routing.
- Review lease, repair, and non-routine rail freight invoices for accuracy and process them for payment.
- Assist in fleet sizing and the deployment of newly added cars.
- Work with plants and railroads to minimize demurrage costs.
- Support customer railcar demurrage management.
Compliance with Hazardous Materials Regulations
- Become a subject matter expert on compliance with USDOT regulations.
- Review and update training materials as required.
- Deliver training programs to plant personnel on a scheduled basis.
- Maintain training records for all plants using an Access database.
- Guide plants on achieving compliance for non-standard shipments.
- Adhere to all federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations.
- Follow company policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a Rail/Truckload/Intermodal/Bulk logistics environment on a national scale.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access, and Word). Experience with SAP, Power BI, and TMS is advantageous.
- Experience handling sensitive and confidential information.
- Promote and exemplify Safety/Health as the top priority.
- Participate in risk assessment audits as required.
- Understand and implement PQ Principles (PQP) within the organization.
- Complete HSE training requirements in a timely manner.
