POSITION SUMMARY:
We are seeking a diligent and proactive legal clerk to assist our legal and risk management team in a dynamic and collaborative setting. Key responsibilities will encompass drafting and evaluating correspondence and contracts under the supervision of the General Counsel; conducting reviews and analyses of controlled insurance program documents, insurance renewals, and certificates of insurance; ensuring compliance of clients and subcontractors with our insurance and risk management protocols; and facilitating the coordination of various legal and administrative tasks with both internal and external stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to work efficiently and autonomously while managing a high volume of tasks and projects, with guidance from the General Counsel as necessary. We are looking for an individual who exhibits meticulous attention to detail, possesses excellent organizational skills, and can adapt to changing priorities. Furthermore, the successful candidate will maintain a high standard of professionalism, integrity, and discretion when handling confidential information, along with the ability to collaborate effectively with individuals at all levels within and outside the organization.
ABOUT Morrow Equipment Company:
Morrow Equipment Company operates the largest fleet of tower cranes in North America, with a presence across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Since its inception in 1968, Morrow has dedicated itself exclusively to the tower crane and construction hoist sectors.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage documentation effectively.
- Assist the General Counsel with contract management and organization.
- Conduct legal research on various topics related to risk, insurance, licensing, and more.
- Request and evaluate certificates of insurance and insurance program enrollment in alignment with our risk management framework.
- Provide backup support for various functions within the legal department and executive management.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Current law school student in good standing with the capability to take and pass the bar exam to become a licensed attorney in the State of Oregon post-graduation.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in a construction and insurance risk management environment.
- Familiarity with the construction industry.
- Knowledge of insurance types, including general liability, workers' compensation, and commercial auto.
- CRIS certification.
- Understanding of claims and insurance coverage.
- Familiarity with standard CGL endorsements and ISO forms.
- Knowledge of contractual insurance and indemnity clauses.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Average work hours: 40 hours per week (day shift only).
Physical requirements include sitting, standing, and walking, with the need to lift and carry office supplies occasionally.
