The Mine Operations Manager will oversee the management of Surface and Underground Mining, Crushing and Sampling Operations at our facilities in Willsboro, NY or Lompoc, CA. This role ensures that mining operations are conducted in a safe and environmentally responsible manner to achieve production, cost, and quality goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise all mining, crushing, and sampling operations, as well as mine employees and contractors, to ensure adequate supplies of crude ore are available for processing plants.
  • Evaluate the use of mine labor, equipment, and materials to achieve efficient and cost-effective operations.
  • Direct all departmental operations to ensure timely project completion, effective employee management, and accurate record maintenance.
  • Maintain 24-hour responsibility for all mining operations, equipment, employee safety, and issues affecting the mining operation.
  • Develop, execute, and reconcile short-term mine plans and collaborate with the group planning team on long-term mine plans.
  • Develop departmental budgets and track actual performance versus budgetary goals, with P&L responsibility for all mining, crushing, and sampling activities.
  • Participate in capital projects development, justification, and installation.
  • Troubleshoot mine and crushing problems as they arise.
  • Manage crude inventory levels and hauling to maintain appropriate inventory targets.
  • Maintain quality standards through procedures and audits.
  • Handle employee management, including counseling, hiring, and terminating as needed.
  • Collaborate with Purchasing to secure and manage vendor relationships.
  • Ensure ore delivery and waste stripping targets are met, communicating progress and issues effectively.
  • Promote safety consciousness and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Provide inputs to strategic planning and the total facility budget process.
  • Direct, monitor, and ensure environmental compliance for the mining operation.

Requirements:

  • BS degree in a technical field (preferably geology, mine, or geological engineering)
  • 5+ years of quarry or mining experience (preferably hard rock mining with underground experience)
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience in mining, quarrying, maintenance, or processing environments

Salary Range: $120,000 - $140,000.USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
