Occupational Health Nurse

Chenega Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Occupational Health Registered Nurse to join our team. As an Occupational Health Registered Nurse, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health and well-being of our employees.
Responsibilities:- Perform physical examinations, including weight, height, blood pressure, EKG, vision, hearing, and cancer screening.
- Administer emergency care for illnesses and injuries, both occupational and non-occupational.
- Evaluate incidents and decide on the best course of treatment, including transporting employees to a hospital if necessary.
- Administer cardiac emergency care, including the use of intravenous equipment and medications.
- Administer oxygen and assist the Physician Assistant as needed.
- Administer treatments and medications for various conditions, including thermal, electrical, and chemical burns.
- Follow up on serious or acute conditions, chronic illnesses, and compensable injuries.
- Perform and arrange for lab work, including venipuncture and pulmonary function tests.
- Conduct audiometric exams and visual acuity exams.
- Participate in special purpose preventive health programs, such as diabetes and hypertension screening.
- Advise employees on immunizations and other medical concerns related to foreign travel.
- Dispense water purification tablets and chloroquine sulfate for areas where malaria is a concern.
- Dispense anti-diarrheal medication and explain jet lag to employees.
- Implement the allergy program, including administering and titrating doses, treating adverse reactions, and consulting with the Medical Officer or allergist as necessary.
- Recognize employee psychological problems and refer them to the EAP counselor for follow-up.
- Assist with other health services-related duties as requested by the Physician Assistant.
- Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
- Valid and unrestricted Registered Nurse license in the state of Maryland.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Occupational Hearing Conservation certification (CAOHC) or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.
- Training course in spirometry or ability to complete within 90 days of employment.
- Certification as an Occupational Health Nurse (COHN) or ability to obtain within 180 days of employment.
- Minimum one (1) year of recent full-time experience as an Occupational Health Nurse in an occupational health setting.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word Suite.
- Knowledge, skill, and experience required to routinely perform venipuncture, EKGs, pulmonary function tests, audiometric exams, and visual acuity exams.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee may use repeated motions that include the arms, wrists, hands, and/or fingers. The employee is occasionally required to walk, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
