Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Extensive experience in rotary wing aviation, particularly in law enforcement and search and rescue.
  • Exceptional skills in vertical reference long-line operations.
  • Experience with night vision goggle operations.
  • Strong connections within the aviation industry, staying updated on safety practices.
  • Knowledge of aircraft maintenance.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Critical thinking skills and situational awareness.

Responsibilities

The Helicopter Pilot will collaborate closely with unit crew members to execute various missions, including law enforcement, search and rescue, medical evacuations, and fire suppression. Key responsibilities include:

  • Safely piloting the aircraft in accordance with established policies.
  • Identifying and addressing aircraft maintenance needs.
  • Participating in ongoing training to maintain operational competency.
  • Adhering to FAA regulations and departmental policies.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants should have a combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the necessary knowledge and abilities for the position. This typically includes:

  • High school graduation or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 2,000 hours of turbine helicopter Pilot-in-Command time.
  • Possession of a valid FAA Commercial Airman Certificate with rotorcraft-helicopter rating.
