Position Title: Application Engineer II
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems as depicted in engineering drawings.
- Comprehend the operational intent of various mechanical equipment, including chillers, boilers, pumps, air handling units (AHUs), fan coil units (FCUs), variable air volume systems (VAVs), and exhaust fans (EFs).
- Formulate detailed sequences of operations based on mechanical schematics or actual site conditions.
- Design intricate electrical circuits, including variable frequency drives (VFDs), motor starters, transducers, actuators, sensors, and relay logic systems.
- Utilize Visio and AutoCAD for design and documentation purposes.
- Possess advanced knowledge of control hardware and its applications.
- Select appropriate control hardware tailored to specific equipment requirements.
- Investigate and integrate new control technologies to enhance our product offerings.
- Create piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) based solely on mechanical equipment specifications.
- Develop controls submittals and operations & maintenance (O&M) documentation.
- Identify potential scopes of work for control system implementations.
- Collaborate with field electricians to specify installation methodologies.
- Establish control panel construction timelines and manage control panel material inventory.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably in Electrical or Mechanical disciplines, or equivalent field experience.
- A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, including at least 2 years in applications engineering.
- Engineering competencies should encompass knowledge of electronics, mechanics, and programming.
- Familiarity with at least two HVAC control systems, preferably Distech, Honeywell, Schneider Electric, Johnson Controls, or Delta.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are essential.
- Ability to perform effectively under pressure and meet stringent deadlines.
- Experience in control system architecture design, programming, or maintenance is advantageous.
