As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for assembling high-quality aircraft sheet metal structural assemblies, including wing spars, wing sections, fuselage sections, and associated flight controls.
Key Responsibilities- Assembly and Fabrication: Assemble aircraft sheet metal structural assemblies, including wing spars, wing sections, fuselage sections, and associated flight controls.
- Tool Operation: Operate air-operated and electric hand drills, auto-feed drills, drill baskets, drill guides, countersinks, dimplers, and other common sheet metal assembly tools.
- Quality Control: Inspect and buy-off own and other team members' work using Piper inspection certifications.
- Material Handling: Assist in receiving, storing, and issuing materials as required.
- Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with senior teammates to receive and share practical knowledge for proper training to perform necessary job functions and requirements.
- Continuous Improvement: Support continuous improvement efforts to improve the team's performance, including schedule delivery, reduction of late work, elimination of quality defects & scrap, increasing productivity, and generating cost reductions.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: 3 years of experience in sheet metal assembly, with a minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Skills: Ability to work with minimal supervision, use of hand and power tools, follow all safety procedures, and demonstrate sound judgment and effective communication skills.
Demonstrates physical and functional ability to perform full anatomical range of motion to accomplish tasks. Evidence of visual and aural acuity and finger and hand dexterity to operate job-specific equipment. Can withstand long periods of sitting, standing, and/or constant walking. Ability to lift and carry up to 35 lbs. Other physical requirements include the ability to bend, kneel, crouch, twist, balance, and reach above, out, and below.
