Job Description

The Hospitalist is a vital member of our healthcare team, providing high-quality patient care and support to our surgical and specialty services. This role requires a strong clinical background in internal medicine, with a focus on delivering exceptional patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess, evaluate, and manage patients in the acute facility, including performing histories and physicals, and conducting physical examinations.
  • Diagnose and actively manage patient conditions, including evaluation and treatment, and daily patient care.
  • Attend multi-disciplinary rounds at the hospital.
  • Order, conduct, and interpret diagnostic studies and laboratory tests.
  • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including suturing, wound care, incision and drainage, and splinting.
  • Prescribe or recommend pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies, including controlled medications.
  • Consult with other physicians as needed for patient care.
  • Refer patients to appropriate sources of care as required.
  • Ensure efficient utilization of resources while supporting clinical pathway implementation and compliance.
  • Ensure timely referrals to a tertiary care facility as indicated by patient care needs.

Requirements:

  • Doctorate degree in medicine (MD or DO).
  • Completion of advanced graduate medical education in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
  • Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
  • Active FL medical license in good standing.
  • DEA license eligible/active.
