Job Title: HSE Specialist

Job Summary:

The HSE Specialist will play a critical role in developing, implementing, and maintaining effective health, safety, and environmental policies and practices within Mount Vernon Operations. This position will require strong leadership skills, with a focus on coaching and mentoring site leadership and field service teams to ensure a safe working environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement HSE policies, practices, and roadmaps to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to site leadership on HSE best practices, including risk management, incident investigation, and training.
  • Collaborate with operational management to develop and implement good people management practices, focusing on employee engagement and well-being.
  • Lead the site HSE committee and conduct regular management reviews to ensure effective HSE performance.
  • Develop and deliver safety training programs to ensure employees have the necessary knowledge and skills to perform their jobs safely.
  • Manage internal and external audits, including 5S audits, to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Represent the organization's HSE performance to external stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies.

Requirements:

  • Certified or working towards AS/BS/MS in occupational health, safety, or a related field.
  • OSHA 30 training and a minimum of two years' HSE-related experience.
  • A minimum of three years' experience working within manufacturing/operations environments or equivalent.
  • Strong working knowledge of environmental, health, and safety compliance law and industrial hygiene.
  • Ability to identify hazards, critical processes, and system needs and implement appropriate solutions.
  • High standard of written English and good communication skills, including professional telephone manner and strong presentation and report writing skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Certified or working towards Safety Professional Associate Safety Professional or Certified Safety Professional.
  • Experience of implementation, development, or auditing of management systems, including OHSAS 18001/ISO 45001, ISO 50001, ISO 14001, and ISO 9001.
  • Experience of coaching and mentoring, problem-solving, and lean manufacturing.
