Job Title: Tableau Administrator

Job Summary:

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled Tableau Administrator to join our team. As a key member of our Business Intelligence team, you will be responsible for managing and optimizing our enterprise-level Tableau environment. Your primary focus will be on ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of our Tableau infrastructure, as well as providing technical support to users across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

Platform Management and Performance Optimization (50%):

  • Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain a multi-tier Tableau infrastructure environment to ensure reliable performance and scalability.
  • Monitor server health and performance, implementing improvements as necessary.
  • Manage Tableau site creation, security, permissions, and settings.
  • Conduct performance tuning and optimization of Tableau dashboards and data sources.
  • Implement best practices for efficient and effective Tableau environment utilization.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve performance issues, including slow-loading dashboards and extract failures.
  • Manage and maintain Tableau data sources and connections.
  • Ensure data integrity and consistency within the Tableau environment.
  • Collaborate with database administrators and data engineers to optimize data sources for Tableau.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation related to system configurations, processes, and troubleshooting procedures.

Data Management, Security, and Compliance, Innovation, and Continuous Improvement (30%):

  • Manage and maintain Tableau data sources and connections.
  • Ensure data integrity and consistency within the Tableau environment.
  • Collaborate with database administrators and data engineers to optimize data sources for Tableau.
  • Implement and enforce security protocols and policies within Tableau.
  • Ensure compliance with data governance and privacy regulations.
  • Perform regular security audits and assessments.
  • Stay updated with the latest Tableau features and industry trends.
  • Propose and implement new features and improvements to enhance Tableau usage.
  • Participate in Tableau community forums and events to share knowledge and best practices.

User Support and Training (20%):

  • Provide technical support to Tableau users across the organization.
  • Conduct training sessions and create documentation to enhance user proficiency with Tableau.
  • Assist users in troubleshooting Tableau-related issues.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, or a relevant field.
  • 4 years of Tableau experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years focused Tableau administration experience.
  • Primary skill should be Tableau administration with some Tableau development experience.
  • Experienced writing and reviewing SQL queries.
  • Experience utilizing Tableau's REST APIs for automation.
  • Good understanding of security, networking, and firewalls.
  • Tableau Certified Server Associate.
