Per Diem Direct Support Professional

Job Summary:

We are seeking a Per Diem Direct Support Professional to join our team at Redwood Family Care Network. As a Per Diem Direct Support Professional, you will provide support to adults with developmental or intellectual disabilities, promoting their health, safety, and well-being. You will work in a variety of settings, including residential and community-based programs, and will be responsible for providing instruction and support services to participants, as described in their Individual Instruction and Support Plan (IISP).

Responsibilities:
  • Provide support to program participants that meets their needs, provides opportunities for community integration, and creates a nurturing, safe, and healthful living environment.
  • Check in weekly with Assistant Directors or Administrators to discuss open shifts for the week.
  • Pick up shifts at multiple programs, but must orient to plans before working with clients.
  • Complete all training before becoming a Per Diem employee and maintain up-to-date training with our Training Manager.
  • Complete the Per Diem checklist and trainings on a monthly basis.
  • Be familiar with the Residential Service Guidelines issued by the Division of Developmental Disabilities.
  • Provide each participant with an array of instruction and support services, as described in the participants' IISP.
  • Ensure that the daily needs of the participants are met, including personal hygiene, food preparation, house cleaning, shopping, and monitoring of health needs, including supervision of medication.
  • Assist participants with regularly accessing the community to take part in a variety of outings of the participants' choosing.
  • Ensure that participants are treated with dignity and consideration at all times, promoting and safeguarding each participant's ability to make decisions and to freely exercise their rights.
  • Interact with participants, provide informal counseling and problem-solving with participants.
  • Attend staff meetings as required by the Program Supervisor or the Site Supervisor and/or Administrator.
  • Attend training offered/required by the agency, DDA, and other parties.
  • Take part in the development and implementation of the IISP for each participant with whom they work.
  • Provide necessary support and supervision of participants.
  • Maintain professional working relationships with other services providers, the participants' parents/relatives/guardians, and other agency staff.
  • Responsible for timely completion of all documentation, including, but not limited to, the medication log, shift notes, progress notes, data sheets, incident reports, and client financial records.
Requirements:
  • Both written and spoken English language proficiency required.
  • High School Diploma / Equivalent required.
  • Washington State Driver's License, a Reliable Vehicle, Auto Insurance, and must be willing to transport clients.
  • Must be located in & eligible/authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must be willing to undergo a background check, in accordance with local law/regulations.
  • First Aid/CPR Certified (training can be provided).
  • Have an active NAR/HCA/CNA.
  • Have an active CPI certification (preferred).
  • Blood Borne Pathogen (within 120 days of employment, training can be provided).
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs.
  • Able to work both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Be fully vaccinated from Covid-19 (or have an approved exemption).
