Job Summary

The Production Supervisor, 3rd shift position will ensure the safe and efficient operation of plant processes, support continuous improvement efforts through the application of the Crane Business System, and oversee the training and development of production associates. The Production Supervisor must understand and embrace Crane values: Intellectual Capital, Operational Excellence, and Transparency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure Plant Safety and Efficiency: Enforce all applicable rules, policies, and operating procedures to guarantee a safe working environment.
  • Incident Response: Respond to all incidents, including first-aid, near miss, and property damage, and ensure timely completion of necessary reports and documentation.
  • Production Supervision: Supervise daily production activities to maintain standards for safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Compliance and Training: Ensure production associates comply with company and department policies and work rules, and maintain consistency in compliance across crews, shifts, and departments.
  • Staffing and Development: Ensure sufficient staffing to support production, and provide training documentation on record.
  • Operational Monitoring: Continuously monitor production line activity and respond to operational, personnel, or quality issues.
  • Continuous Improvement: Support continuous improvement efforts through the application of the Crane Business System.
  • Performance Management: Evaluate employee performances, provide performance feedback, counseling, coaching, disciplinary warnings, or other corrective action as needed.
  • Work Environment: Maintain a clean and hazard-free work environment, correcting any unsatisfactory housekeeping or hazardous conditions.
  • Communication: Communicate with team members, supervisors, and management to ensure effective management of shift changes, schedule changes, equipment problems, quality concerns, and safety hazards.
  • Manpower Planning: Ensure manpower needs are met for each shift, and provide coverage for vacations, sick days, turnover, training, and other events.
  • Reporting and Administration: Complete department reports and paperwork in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Plant Security: Assume responsibility for plant security.
  • Leadership: Lead by example through actions, communications, and attitude.
Requirements
  • Leadership Experience: 2-5 years of demonstrated success in leading/managing others.
  • Language Skills: Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Working knowledge of environmental & OSHA regulations.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively at all levels, through a variety of media.
  • Operational Excellence: Working knowledge of Operational Excellence tools & applications.
  • Computer Skills: Computer skills in Microsoft Office software packages.
  • Education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is preferred.
