Job Overview

The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for processing and reconciling bi-weekly payroll, including calculating employee earnings and deductions. This role is crucial in ensuring accurate and timely payments to employees.

Responsibilities
  • Process and distribute bi-weekly payroll; compute contract amounts; calculate and process adjustments to wages; create and import time management files for each payroll;
  • Create direct deposit file for transfer and distribution of payroll to employee bank accounts; create and print manual checks, and create new tax, job and department codes in UltiPro;
  • Maintain time management system for employees including usernames, passwords, clocking in/out, PTO hours available, requested & used; answer questions relating to time keeping and/or adjustments;
Requirements
  • High school diploma required, bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university preferred;
  • Must have at least one to two years' experience processing payroll;
  • Training in computer-based programs, 10-key calculator, and knowledge of benefits a plus;
  • Must have and maintain thorough knowledge of state and federal payroll laws;
  • Experience working in a higher education environment a plus;
Benefits

The estimated salary for this position is $65,000 - $85,000 per year. The Archdiocese of Detroit offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
