Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Laboratory Technician to join our research team at the University of Pittsburgh. As a Laboratory Technician, you will play a critical role in conducting various laboratory experiments and procedures, preparing specimens, overseeing supply management, and operating and maintaining equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform a variety of laboratory experiments and procedures, including immunoblotting, PCR, DNA subcloning and sequencing, immunoprecipitations, cell culture, and sample and library preparation for next-generation sequencing.
  • Conduct murine animal studies and work with model organisms, such as mice, as well as human tissue and/or cell lines.
  • Support lab organization and operations by ordering supplies and reagents, maintaining common laboratory equipment, cell lines, reagents, and other materials, and keeping an inventory of these items.
  • Ensure timely, accurate, and detailed record-keeping of experimental procedures and data organization, maintaining high standards of accuracy and adherence to Good Laboratory Practice (GLP).
  • Keep reports and analyses current, clear, and concise.
Requirements
  • Demonstrated experience and proficiency in cell culture techniques, cloning, CRISPR/Cas9 gene manipulations, immunoblotting, cell-based drug response assays, and murine xenograft models.
  • A high degree of accuracy and meticulous attention to detail in all tasks, along with strong organizational skills to manage lab operations and maintain inventory.
  • The ability to understand and apply spreadsheet applications and general mathematics.
Working Conditions

Moderate physical effort required. May be required to stand/move for several hours at a time. May be required to move objects up to 25 pounds occasionally.
