Job Summary

The Civil and Environmental Department at Auburn University is seeking an Advanced Structural Engineering Lab Technician to join our team at the Advanced Structural Engineering Laboratory (ASEL). As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing various tasks associated with laboratory and research equipment installation, fabrication, maintenance, and repair.

Key Responsibilities
  • Instruct and assist students in ASEL procedures and the use of test equipment.
  • Collaborate with students and faculty on the design and execution of large-scale structural and geotechnical research projects.
  • Fabricate research specimens (steel, concrete, and wood).
  • Assemble test setups using various tools and equipment (e.g., crane, forklift, and scissor lift).
  • Assist with the installation of sensors and data acquisition systems.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • An Associate's Degree in an Engineering-related field.
  • Experience in assisting in engineering design and manufacturing, with a minimum of 2 years of experience for Level II and 4 years of experience for Level III.
  • Strong technical skills, including experience with laboratory equipment and software.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
