Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Accounting Clerk I to join our team at Topeka Public Schools Unified School District 501. The successful candidate will be responsible for processing and paying accounts payable, assisting with accounts receivable, and maintaining accurate accounting records.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process all invoices and reimbursements in a timely and accurate manner
  • Maintain correspondence with vendors to resolve pricing and shipping issues
  • Reconcile vendor statements and ensure invoices have proper authorization for payment
  • Review travel reimbursement requests for accuracy and assist with counting and logging cash and checks received for Accounts Receivable
  • Research transactions as directed and prepare reports as required
  • Scan and index all purchase orders, backup materials, and checks for audit records
  • Maintain electronic and physical files for all Accounts Payable transactions
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • General bookkeeping and accounting skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Excel and Word
  • Ability to enter large volumes of data accurately and efficiently
  • Ability to work independently and maintain accurate accounting records
Working Conditions

The incumbent may be required to use the following skills during any part of the work day: speaking, listening, manual dexterity, bending, sitting, reaching, pushing, pulling, repetitive motions, and visual acuity.

Terms of Employment

The term of employment is 12 months, with salary and work year determined by the Board of Education.
