Job Summary

Bowhead is seeking a highly skilled Junior Engineer/Scientist to support the Advanced Sensor Systems Division B40 within the Electromagnetic and Sensor Systems Department. The successful candidate will work directly with the client supporting Navy and Marine Corps systems, including Dual Band Radar (DBR), Ground Air Task Oriented Radar (G/ATOR), and other Sensor Systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Requirements Development: Collaborate with the client to develop requirements for radar systems, ensuring alignment with Navy and Marine Corps needs.
  • Systems Engineering: Apply systems engineering principles to design, develop, and integrate radar systems, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
  • Modeling & Analysis: Utilize modeling and analysis techniques to simulate and evaluate radar system performance, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Hardware Design: Design and develop radar system hardware, including antennas, transmitters, and receivers, to meet performance and reliability requirements.
  • Signal Processing: Develop and implement signal processing algorithms to enhance radar system performance, including noise reduction and target detection.
  • Sensor Operation: Ensure the smooth operation of radar systems, including calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Test and Evaluation: Conduct thorough testing and evaluation of radar systems to ensure compliance with requirements and performance standards.
  • Sensor Certification: Collaborate with the client to obtain certification for radar systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Sensor Requirement Verification: Verify that radar system requirements are met, ensuring that the system performs as intended.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited school of engineering with a curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) in a relevant field, such as Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Electronics Engineering.
  • Skills: Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Communication: Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts, including written and verbal communication.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment, with the ability to work alone or as part of a team.
  • Security Clearance: Must currently hold a security clearance at the Secret level, with US Citizenship required for Secret clearance at this location.
Physical Demands
  • Lifting: Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Standing and Walking: Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time.
  • Twisting, Bending, and Squatting: Must be able to twist, bend, and squat periodically.
