Amherst College is seeking applications for the role of Casual Catering Assistant. This part-time, casual position offers a starting pay of $18.00/hour and does not include benefits. Role Responsibilities:

The Casual Catering Assistant plays a vital role in the Catering Department, ensuring that our community receives exceptional service during events. Responsibilities include:
  • Collaborating with the catering team to prepare, organize, transport, and deliver food, beverages, and necessary supplies; ensuring proper setup and breakdown of all catering equipment.
  • Operating dishwashing equipment and performing manual dishwashing as needed during events.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in kitchen and storage areas, including sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming.
  • Assisting with the organization and sanitation of catering supplies and facilities.

Communication and Coordination:

Regular communication is essential for this role. Responsibilities include:
  • Staying updated on departmental communications through email and other channels.
  • Utilizing Workday for managing shift schedules, time-off requests, and personal information.

Qualifications:

Required:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Relevant work experience may substitute for educational requirements.
  • A valid driver's license is necessary for operating college vehicles.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment physical/lift test.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service abilities.
  • Commitment to working within a diverse and inclusive community.

Preferred:
  • Experience driving cargo vans.
  • Two years of experience in food service.
  • Previous catering experience.
